Poetry in Aldeburgh
4 - 6th November 2022

Call for Expressions of Interest

Poetry in Aldeburgh was set up as a charity in 2016, whose aim is first and foremost to bring poetry into the town of Aldeburgh. As such, we are keen to return to holding face-to-face events on the ground. At the same time we are aware that through our last two virtual festivals via Zoom in 2020 and 2021 that we have attracted new audiences and been able to programme poets that we could not normally afford to bring to Aldeburgh.

The aim, therefore, is to organise a hybrid festival, alternating between events held live in the town, and events held live on Zoom. Because transport costs are often prohibitive, we will, as previous year, prioritise bringing poets and performers from the East of England to the town, while programming poets from further afield in the UK and internationally online via Zoom.

We will continue with our mix of poetry and performance, encouraging performers to engage with and respond to music and the visual arts. We will also continue with the concept of thematic events where a group of poets (usually four) read on and around a certain topic or issue. There will also be a mix of our popular writing workshops, online and on the ground.

We very much look forwards to programming this year’s festival, and to seeing you online and in Aldeburgh later this year.

With best regards,

The Festival Team (Paul Stephenson, Robin Boyd, Anna Ilsley, Patricia Debney)

submit a proposal to the Festival. Proposals  should be sent to us by 15th May please.

We welcome expressions of interest from individual poets, but especially from poets with their own ideas for an event, including those with a group of poets already identified. We will also look back to existing expressions of interest from last year, but any poets we could not programme and who are keen to take part are urged to complete the new form, with an update of their bios and publication details.
