Open Mic Event for Young Prizewinners

We reported earlier on the Woodbridge Young Poets Prize and are delighted to confirm that the prizewinners will be reading their prizewinning poems at an open mic event on Friday 4 November.

Woodbridge teacher, herself a poet, Alex Davis says, "We are delighted that Poetry In Aldeburgh have been so encouraging of our efforts to create a poetry festival for our pupils; we hope to grow the poetry audiences, as well as poets, of tomorrow. Poetry In Aldeburgh is proving itself to be a wonderfully collaborative initiative, full of creativity and a readiness to share and be enriched by others' ideas in the pursuit of creating something special - who wouldn't want to be part of that?"

How does she think the young poets will react to being included in the festival programme?

"The Open Mic promises to be an experience that those young poets will never forget. When someone endorses your work it spurs you on; who knows where such encouragement could take them? And to have the experience of reading their work to an appreciative audience in Aldeburgh, is a prize unparalleled. Lucky them!"

If you know any young poets, do remind them of the closing date on 30 September and all details on the competition, here.
