Poetry in Aldeburgh’s objectives

Poetry in Aldeburgh was established in 2016 to encourage the reading and writing of poetry in Aldeburgh and the east Suffolk region through an annual festival to include readings, performances, writing workshops and other activities.

The goal of Poetry in Aldeburgh is promote the arts for the public benefit, in particular the art of poetry, and to advance public education and appreciation of the art of poetry in Aldeburgh by providing an annual poetry festival and other poetry events and educational outreach programmes.

It continues to build partnerships of shared interest between public, private and voluntary organisations.

Poetry in Aldeburgh strives to have an educational role, placing poets in local schools and universities, with a particular focus on targeting areas of deprivation within the county, thus making poetry available to all. The Festival will continue to programme events which emphasise diversity and difference through its choice of participating poets.

We rely on donations to help fund our activities. If wish to donate or find out how to support us, please contact us on admin@poetryinaldeburgh.org.
