Poetry in Aldeburgh Festival and Pre-Festival 2026

Ticket Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to tickets purchased for the Poetry in Aldeburgh Festival (including the Pre-Festival) 2026. By purchasing a ticket, you agree to these terms.

In these terms, “we”, “us” and “PinA” mean Poetry in Aldeburgh, a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, registered with the Charity Commission, no. 1167740. Registered address: Georgian House, 34 Thoroughfare, Halesworth, Suffolk IP19 8AP.

1. Tickets

Tickets are sold subject to availability. Please check your booking carefully before paying, including the event, date, time, ticket type and number of tickets.

Your ticket is valid only for the event and ticket type stated on it. Tickets must not be copied or used more than once. We may refuse admission if a ticket appears to have been duplicated or obtained fraudulently.

2. Festival Passes

A Festival Pass admits you to all festival events scheduled between 5–8 November 2026, not including workshops, walks or events at The Aldeburgh Gallery (“Festival Pass Eligible Events”).

A Pass does not guarantee a seat at any particular event. Admission is subject to venue capacity and any seating arrangements for that event. We strongly recommend you arrive early to secure a seat.

3. Workshops

Unless otherwise stated, you may book a maximum of two workshops. Friends of Poetry in Aldeburgh may book up to two additional workshops during the Friends’ additional booking period, subject to availability.

Workshops are not included in Festival Passes. Each workshop’s page states any specific terms, including its cancellation and refund arrangements. Those terms apply in addition to these terms.

4. Concessionary tickets

Concessionary tickets are available, where offered for an event, to people who are aged 26 or under on the day of the event, or who receive unemployment or disability benefits.

We may ask for reasonable evidence of eligibility, normally at the venue on arrival. If you cannot show eligibility, you will be asked to pay the difference between the concessionary and standard price, or you may be refused entry to the event.

5. Essential Companion tickets

If you need support from another person to attend, a free Essential Companion ticket may be booked alongside a standard or concessionary ticket.

We may ask for reasonable supporting evidence.

6. Changes, exchanges and refunds

You are able to transfer your ticket (see section 8). Refunds are not offered other than in exceptional circumstances at the Festival’s discretion. We may ask for reasonable supporting evidence. Claims for refunds will be rejected if requested less than 48 hours before an event.

If we cancel an event, we will refund the ticket price in full, including any booking fee. If you are a Festival Pass holder, refunds are not offered except in the event of cancellation of more than 25% of the Festival Pass Eligible Events, in which case we will refund a proportionate part of the Pass price.

We may make reasonable changes to the programme, timings, venues, performers or other advertised details where circumstances require but this will not result in a refund. If we make a material change to an event, you may choose to keep your ticket or receive a full refund. A change is material if it means the ticket can no longer reasonably be regarded as providing what you bought, for example, the headline poet withdrawing or a move to a venue you cannot access.

Postponement. If an event is moved to a new date, your ticket will be valid for the new date. If you cannot attend on the new date, you should request a refund within 14 days of being told of the change and at least 48 hours before the event’s new date.

Nothing in these terms affects any legal rights you have that cannot lawfully be excluded.

7. Programme and performers

We may make reasonable changes to the programme, timings, venues, performers or other advertised details where circumstances require. If a change is material, we will tell affected ticket holders as soon as reasonably possible and offer the options in section 6.

8. Transfer and resale

You may transfer your ticket, Festival Pass or workshop place to another person free of charge.

However, once the Festival has begun and a Festival Pass has been used for the first time,it may not be transferred to or used by another person..

If you bought a concessionary ticket, you may transfer it only to someone who is also eligible for a concessionary ticket under section 4. An Essential Companion ticket may not be transferred; however, the transferee may apply for their own Essential Companion ticket, subject to eligibility.

Tickets must not be resold for more than their original price, excluding genuine booking or transaction costs. We may cancel tickets that have been obtained fraudulently or resold in breach of these terms, without refund.

9. Late arrival

Seating is not reserved. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of your event or workshop. If you need to collect a ticket or Festival Pass from the Jubilee Hall box office, please allow extra time.

At Jubilee Hall and our other venues, latecomers arriving more than 10 minutes after the advertised start time will normally not be admitted, except in exceptional circumstances. Workshops may have their own late arrival rules, stated on the workshop page. Where late entry is refused, the ticket is not refundable.

10. Accessibility

Please tell us about any access requirements when booking or at least 1 week before the festival, so that we can make suitable arrangements. Step-free and other reserved seating will be available where required, where possible, provided you have informed us in advance, and is subject to venue capacity. If you need assistance or have any questions, please contact us.

11. Lost tickets

If you lose your ticket, please contact us. If we can verify your booking, we may reissue the ticket or make alternative arrangements.

12. Children and age restrictions

Any age restriction, or warning that an event is unsuitable for children, will be stated in the event information.

13. Photography and recording

Photography, audio recording and filming by audience members are not permitted.

A ticket does not entitle anyone to behave in a way that disrupts an event or other audience members. We may refuse admission to, or ask to leave, anyone whose behaviour is disruptive, threatening or otherwise inappropriate, without refund.

14. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Otherwise, our liability to you in connection with a ticket is limited to the price you paid for it. We are not liable for losses we could not reasonably have foreseen, or for events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, industrial action, or a venue becoming unavailable. In those cases, we will still offer the remedies in section 6 where they apply.

We use the personal information you give us to process your booking and to contact you about it. Our privacy notice is at www.poetryinaldeburgh.org/contact-us

Bookings are processed through Ticket Tailor, whose privacy policy also applies.
